VIVAnews - Tim dokter Rumah Sakit Pusdikes TNI Angkatan Darat (AD) Bogor telah merampungkan otopsi atas jenazah Mbah Surip.

“Otopsinya berlangsung dua jam,” kata salah satu staf rumah sakit, Mega kepada VIVAnews, Selasa 4 Agustus 2009.

Ia menambahkan, Mbah Surip meninggal dalam perjalanan menuju rumah sakit.

Seperti diberitakan sebelumnya, Mbah Surip yang tenar dengan lagu ‘Tak Gendong’ itu menderita diare sejak kemarin.

Saat sarapan pagi tadi, Mbah Surip mengeluarkan busa dari mulutnya.

iriver reportedly working up Android-based K2 media player

Take it for nothing more than it is (a lovely, delicious and completely unsubstantiated rumor), but word on the Australian streets is that iriver may have an Android-based portable media player on the horizon. According to local distributor C.R. Kennedy’s iriver product manager, Danny Bejanoff, the outfit is looking to take on Apple’s iPod touch directly, with a 3.5-inch touchscreen, WiFi, built-in web browser, accelerometer, Bluetooth, a digital TV tuner and Google’s Android OS running the show. Sadly, it seems as if this pipe dream has yet to receive the proper final approvals, but we’re here to beg the brilliant designers at iriver to invest whatever it takes to make this so-called K2 a reality. Oh, and just in case that wasn’t enough for you, Mr. Bejanoff also noted that the firm was working up a new e-reader and internet tablet, both of which should be out for testing in short order.

HP Compaq’s $300 laptop reviewed, makes strong case to bypass netbook

For all intents and purposes, HP’s Compaq Presario CQ60 is a pretty unremarkable laptop — but slap a $300 price tag on it like Walmart has done, a price comparable to most netbooks on the market, and that reframes the entire conversation. Computer Shopper has gotten some hands-on time with the machine, and while not spectacular, it seems to outperform Intel Atom-based machines. You’re still not gonna be able to do much more than check your email and browse the web, though, and the tradeoff for having a 15.6-inch display and DVD burner is a bulkier, less travel-friendly form factor. Still, this seems to do an apt job at filling in that gap between netbook and laptop, and we’re sure someone out there will appreciate or feeling nostalgic over that modem jack.

Toyota’s humanoid robot was born to run

We essentially can’t get enough of advanced robots doing things that look human — probably in the same way we can’t get enough of pretending our dog understands English.
Anthropomorphism aside, Toyota’s humanoid running robot is really impressive. It’s got a super impressive sense of balance, and he’s quite fast on his feet — running at an average of 7 km an hour (yes, that’s faster than ASIMO can run), too. We can say with 100 percent certainty that we’d like to hang out with this guy — check out the video after the break.

What is Humanoid Robot?

A humanoid robot or sometime called android, is a robot that resembles human body. In general, humanoid robot is a robot that walks upright and features two arms, two legs and a head. In the coming decades, we will see humanoid robots possess artificial intelligence. They will eventually become self-aware and conscious, and be able to do anything that a human can. Another relevant term is cyborg, which means it is a humanoid mix of organic and robotic parts.

Props to the guys over at smart-machines for digging up an awesome video (see below) of the Toyota humanoid robot running at 7 Km/hr (4 mph), besting Asimo’s 6Km/hr. Making humanoid robots that can run and walk was once a formidable challenge for robot engineers, but advances in computing now make the problem of calculating split second compensations for balance less of a headache. Surprisingly, there still aren’t many bipedal humanoid robots that can walk, let alone run. The Asimo robot from Honda and also the upcoming Dexter robot from Anybots are two of the more famous examples, but now Toyota has jumped into the ring in a big way. The Toyota humanoid robot is part of a now multi-year effort by Toyota to create robots that are designed to help humans, aptly called partner robots.

The Asimo robot from Honda has been around for over a decade, so at first the humanoid robot from Toyota might not seem like much of an achievement. Perhaps this is true…but after watching the video you will have to agree its still pretty darn cool. Apparently the Toyota robot can only operate on conventional flat surfaces, whereas the Asimo robot is capable of walking up stairs and handling more diverse situations (except when it falls). But then again the Toyota robot can play the violin, so who is the real champ here? In the end, the best thing is that there are multiple big money players all jumping into the humanoid robot market, and thus the field is rapidly advancing through natural competitive pressure. It surely won’t be long now before Honda or some other company bests this 7 Km/hr achievement. And then of course if we allow the robot to have more than two feet, my money is on the big dog kicking everybody’s butt, humanoid or human.
